What it does
Build, debug, and optimize Docker configurations. Use when a user asks to create a Dockerfile, fix Docker build errors, optimize image size, write docker-compose files, debug container issues, set up multi-stage builds, or troubleshoot networking between containers. Covers Dockerfile best practices and compose orchestration.
This entry summarizes the public skill for discovery. Prefer the upstream SKILL.md for the full instruction text (we do not paste restricted or lengthy proprietary prompt bodies).
Install & usage
Multi-agent install (Terminal Skills CLI)
npx terminal-skills install docker-helper
Manual curl examples:
# Claude Code
curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/TerminalSkills/skills/main/skills/docker-helper/SKILL.md -o .claude/skills/docker-helper.md
# Codex
curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/TerminalSkills/skills/main/skills/docker-helper/SKILL.md -o .codex/skills/docker-helper.md

Best for
Dockerfile/compose debugging and image optimization guidance.
Hands-on test
- test_level: fully-tested
- Ran: yes
- When: 2026-11-01T01:23:05+08:00 (Asia/Shanghai)
- Result: Installed Docker Engine 26.1.5 on the box; wrote multi-stage Flask Dockerfile; docker build skillcheck-flask:local succeeded; container on :18080 returned docker-helper-ok; image ~124MB then removed container.
- Gotchas: On this pod, invoke-rc.d/policy-rc.d blocked service start during dpkg — needed manual
service docker start. First apt update needed sand egress HTTP proxy.
